8 months old

As I was looking back at pictures from Natalie & Sophia’s 8th month, I was struck by a couple of things. They look so much more alike then. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised; even now Turkish friends or acquaintances ask me how I can tell them apart. In my opinion, they don’t look that much alike. Yes, they look like sisters, but nothing like identical twins. They are looking more and more different every week. I also can’t believe how chubby their cheeks were! I miss those chubby cheeks.

During the 8th month, Sophia loved sitting, and her posture was (and continues to be) amazing! She doesn’t get that from me, unfortunately. She didn’t like tummy time much, and would get a little upset after rolling from her back to her stomach.

Natalie loved tummy time and was getting increasingly mobile. Her favorite place to play was at the edge of and underneath the couch.

The two biggest milestones: starting solid foods and starting to sleep through the night. It seems everything I’ve read said that those two don’t always go hand-in-hand, but they did for us. Seriously, the day we started solids was the day they (really Natalie, because Sophia has always been a good night sleeper), slept through the night and haven’t looked back (except for one night when Natalie was sick). I love getting more sleep!! And it helps to have more energy during the day for walks to the grocery store (strolling one, carrying one in the Ergo), trips to the park, and occasionally some exercise.

One of my all-time favorite pictures of them!

The second video is one of my favorites. At the end, it seems like Natalie isn't sure whether to laugh or cry out of fear. It cracks me up every time!
